Breakdown of Photoshop tutorials
How easy is it to write a photoshop tutorial. Well a photoshop cs5 tutorial is pretty much unlikely until a full release of CS5. Currently we are waiting for the official release, though we do have several videos showing the latest technologies to expect in CS5.
Tutorials in general should provide clear screenshots and descriptions in the process used to attain a particular effect. The power of good PhotoShop Tutorials lies in being understood.
A good PhotoShop tutorial should introduce the same concept and principle you are using as a graphic designer. Both have a purpose to communicate with an audience. Keeping that in mind is a surefire strategy to grab the reader’s attention. Here are a few values you need to acquire.
Firstly look at the tutorials you found helpful. Why did it work so well. Did the tutorial include a video? Did it provide the PSD files. Did it offer support via comments. All these things probably had an impact on why the tutorial worked for you. If you intend to produce a photoshop tutorial, then be inspired by what works for you initially.
Try writing the PhotoShop tutorial with a novice user in mind. There is no way to determine the skill levels of the visitor.
Try and show all workings and provide the most relevent screenshot with description at each stage. A good PhotoShop tutorials will always have the audience in mind. Principles of aesthetics and elements of art matter a lot
Try not to over complicate the process, as much as details are neccessary in a good tutorial, on the other hand there are times when it also shouldn’t get over complicated.
